Repairing Bathtub Leaks in A Multi-Unit Building | P-Trap Replacement in San Diego

A customer called to have one unit checked because water leaking from the bathtub in Unit C was seeping into Unit A below. Upon inspection, Happy Plumbing discovered a leak at the nut on the existing P-trap, as well as a secondary leak at the MIPABS connection into the cast-iron Santee. We replaced the faulty P-trap and the MIP connection with new ABS components and reconnected them to the existing waste and overflow. Note: There is no warranty on existing cast-iron fittings or the waste and overflow. However, the new work completed—between the P-trap and the 1½” MIP—comes with a 6-month warranty on both parts and labor. After installation, we thoroughly tested the system by running water from the upstairs tub for several minutes; no leaks were detected.
