After moving into their home in October, the homeowners aimed to eliminate all gas utilities and transition fully to electric systems, starting with the replacement of their aging gas water heater. With the walls already open for renovations, it was the perfect opportunity to update and modernize the home’s internal plumbing.
Happy Plumbing removed the existing water heater and installed a high-efficiency AO Smith 50-gallon heat pump model, ensuring the installation complied with current California codes. The new system includes a 6-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, with the first service provided free of charge. To maintain the extended labor warranty, the homeowners agreed to annual flush services performed by Happy Plumbing. This upgrade also qualified for available California and federal rebates, helping to reduce the overall project cost. To further enhance water quality and system performance, we installed the Flow-Tech Home MAX Anti-Scale System—a salt-free alternative to traditional softeners that prevents and removes limescale using electromagnetic signals. Additional upgrades included running a new ice maker line with a recessed box, installing new water and drain lines for the laundry area, cleaning up exposed copper plumbing, and capping all unused gas lines. We also installed a customer-supplied utility sink with new connections, added a hot water system under the kitchen sink, and rebuilt a Moen shower valve with a new trim kit.
